Madame Récamier
Julie Récamier was a famous beauty and the owner of a literary-political salon. She loved to host her friends – oppositionists on a chaise longue, which was later named after her.
The shape of the headboard, backrest, and armrests was borrowed from the ancient Greek women’s chair klismos. The main distinguishing feature of Madame Récamier’s chaises longues is the S-shaped line of the headboard, which, depending on the model, could have different angles of inclination and degrees of curvature.
A women’s clothing boutique in Yekaterinburg also bears the name of this beautiful lady. The atmosphere of a French salon from the early 18th century has been conveyed very subtly by the designer. The cozy little boutique turned out to be functional and truly French.
Comfortably settled on the chaise longue in the relaxation area, the husband, tired from the promenade, can pass the time while his partner tries on luxurious evening dresses.
The main thing in store design for women’s clothing is to make them comfortable for men. Although Madame Récamier herself would probably disagree with me.
