A young single man chose the Loft style for his studio apartment, which is 68.6 square meters in size and has a ceiling height of 3 meters.
The apartment is located in a residential complex aptly named “Aristocrat” in Yekaterinburg.
Loft Style
This style, popular among the bourgeois bohemia—without a cult of poverty—spends a lot of time decorating their homes and maintaining family comfort, while also enjoying being in unusual places, primarily those associated with alcohol.
The modern bourgeois spends most of their time at home, while the bohemia drinks absinthe from special glasses, igniting sugar in the process.
The loft style allows people who strive for freedom, yet are socially successful, to combine a mix of authentic industrial spaces, vintage furniture, handmade art objects, raw walls, and contemporary art pieces.
Loft Inspires
Loft apartments are typically converted from former industrial buildings.
However, in our case, the designers had to create a stylization. High ceilings and large windows, spacious mezzanines were left out of this project as something inspiring but unattainable.
Playing with Loft
Originally popular among poor artists, the Loft style has been embraced by hipsters, for whom a fashionable creative atmosphere is more important than the purity of style.
Nostalgia for Soviet constructivism, reliable, solid, and substantial. A longing for the revolutionary bohemian aesthetic created a reliable stylistic foundation for this interior.
Who sleeps during the day and flies at night?
The idea of freedom with an industrial touch materialized in the form of an aviation propeller on the bedroom ceiling, supported by a two-meter airplane on the wall.
I found this approach so clever, combined with the socks thrown on the floor by the owner, that I considered the bedroom concept suitable to define the entire interior. I named it “Loft for the Aviator.”
Bourgeois-Soviet Style
Carefully examining the details of this Loft, you will see a coffee table made by hand from fruit crates, Soviet glass blocks, Edison bulbs, an old brick wall, a chalkboard, concrete textures, and authentic furniture.
All this antique mix peacefully coexists with modern designer furniture: a large drink refrigerator, trendy chairs, concrete lamps, and nightstands painted in bright orange.
Upon seeing a snowboard on the wall of the hallway, you might be surprised and ask yourself: How does such a “club” interior fit with a healthy lifestyle?
My answer to you: That’s what we designers are for, to ensure everything in our interiors harmonizes beautifully.
